Episode 3: Alberto Manguel on 'The Library of Babel' and Jorge Luis Borges

An episode about "The universe (which others call the library)"

It was only a matter of time (and apparently, not a lot of time) until The Library of Babel podcast turned to the story that gave it its name - The Library of Babel, written by perhaps my favorite writer, Jorge Luis Borges. And to do just that, I’ve invited the translator, essayist, novelist, editor, and a former Director of the National Library of Argentina - a position Borges himself held - Alberto Manguel.

As a teenager with a passion for books, only years later did Alberto understood the precious gift he received while growing up in Buenos Aires. The chance to read to the then blind Borges a few evenings each week and to discuss literature with the master.

This episode was an exciting and fascinating experience for me, and I’m happy to share it with you. I’ve always felt that it’s an honor to introduce Borges to new readers. And even if you knew and read his texts before, I’m sure you’ll find a fresh perspective from Alberto Manguel, a wonderful author and writer who met and studied Borges for many years now. I sure did.
